나승준은 적극적으로 ‘이미지’ 안에 잠입하여 무엇인가를 관찰하고 발견한다. 그리고 작업에 쓰일 이미지를 직접 발굴하고 채집하여, 위트 있게 재조합하고 콜라주 하여 작업한다. 즉 ‘이미지’를 다루는 작가이다. 특히 그는 콜라주 기법을 이용해 현실을 기반으로 해서 얻은 이미지를 활용하여 정작 현실에서 일어날 수 없는 상황을 표현할 수 있다는 것에 흥미를 갖는다. 디지털 콜라주라는 매개는 이러한 그만의 생각을 표현하기 위해서 최적화된 표현기법인 것이다. 기존 이미지 위에 다른 요소를 추가해 그럴듯한 이야기에 더 가깝게 만드는 것이다.

그의 작품은 단순히 일상에서 쉽게 목격되는 풍경처럼 보이지만 자세히 들여다보면 비현실적인 상황이 펼쳐진다. 평범한 일상이었던 풍경들은 작가만의 상상력으로 인해 특별한 존재로 탈바꿈된다. 그가 작품을 통해 이야기하는 상상력이란 눈앞에 존재하지 않는 허구의 이미지를 만들어 내는 것이 아니라 개인의 삶 속에서 경험한 기억과 연관시켜 이미지를 변형하는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 작가는 모호한 제목과 익숙하면서도 동시에 비현실적인 상황을 제시하여 관람객에게 무한한 상상의 여지를 준다.

Seungjun Na consciously infiltrates the realm of images to observe and discover. He excavates and collects images himself, then cleverly rearranges and collages them into his work. In this sense, he is an artist who engages directly with ‘the image’. Particularly interested in the ability of collage to depict situation that cannot happen in reality with images from reality, Na expresses his thoughts through the medium of digital collage that he constructs scenes that approach the appearance of a plausible story by layering new elements onto existing images,

At first glance, his works may resemble familiar everyday landscapes, but upon closer observation, surreal and unreal situations begin to unfold. That is the moment where ordinary life is transformed into something extraordinary through the artist’s imagination. But the imagination he refers to is not about creating fictional images detached from reality—it is about transforming images by connecting them to personally experienced memory. Through offering ambiguous titles and presenting familiar but unrealistic situations at the same time, the artist leaves infinite space for viewers to imagine their own interpretations.
